The users of TripAdvisor voted to pick the best Central America beaches of 2016, and Costa Rica managed to get 5 of its beautiful beaches listed among the Top 10, and actually four of them made it among the Top 5, however, none of them earned first place.

The first place went to West Bay Beach in Honduras, located in Roatan, this white sand beach with light blue clear waters is known as a great destination for snorkeling.

The second place went to Manuel Antonio Beach, this doesn’t come as a surprise, one of the most visited sites in Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio’s conditions for swimming and snorkeling are excellent, the warm water and beauty that surrounds it, makes it a true oasis.

The third position was also given to a Costa Rican beach, Playa Guiones (Nosara), the white sand beach is visited by many surfers but also families that like the laid back atmosphere of the Nosara area, the exclusive beach community has everything you need in one very neat location.

In fourth place, Santa Teresa Beach, in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, one of the main choices of local surfers, the once secluded surfing spot has slowly gained more visitors, the unspoiled nature found here and the “young vibe” of a small beach village is unique and intoxicating.

Avellana Beach in Guanacaste was the last Costa Rican beach to make the top 5, just a few minutes away from the popular Tamarindo beach, Avellanas pristine waters certainly deserve a spot among the best, not only does it have great conditions to practice surfing, but it’s also great option for families, there is no village here, just the beach, and despite it being beautiful it doesn’t get too crowded.

Hermosa Beach, the one in Puntarenas not Guanacaste, took the 6th place, the perfect conditions for surfers and the closeness to the capital city makes Hermosa a very popular spot.

Position 7 was earned by another Honduran beach, Roatan Bay, this destination in the Caribbean is certainly gaining a lot of traction among tourists, the reef protected waters have abundant marine life that can be easily spotted and snorkeling is a must in the area.

Red Frog Beach in Bastimentos Island, Bocas del Toro, Panama holds the 8th position, Bocas del Toro in the Caribbean has been considered among the best vacation destinations in Central America for years, Red Frog Beach is just one of many incredible beaches in the area, considered by many the best because of its clear turquoise waters, great swimming conditions, white sand and close-by amenities.

Nicaragua’s Playa Las Peñitas is number 9 in the listing, this beach in Leon, Nicaragua is a small fishing village in the Pacific coasts of the Central American country. The beauty of this place is its privacy. This secluded beach offers great surfing and swimming conditions.

Last position in the top 10 went to Playa Estrella (Star Beach), also in the Province of Bocas del Toro, Panama, of course the reason this beach is named Star Beach is because starfish are everywhere you look, calm waters make this a great place for families with young children. The area of Bocas del Toro is easily accessible from Costa Rica.
