Agents from the Office of Judicial Investigations (Spanish initials: OIJ) are currently looking for two female tourists in the Caribbean region of Costa Rica. According to a wire report published by online news daily CRHoy.com, the two women were last seen two nights ago at bar in the downtown district of Limon.

One of the tourists has been identified with a last name of Martinez, a 35-year old woman who resides in Italy but has Nicaraguan roots. She reportedly came to Costa Rica from Europe on a business trip. The age of her companion was not revealed, but she responds to the last name of Galán and is from Nicaragua.

According to the report from CRHoy.com, Ms. Martinez arrived in Costa Rica on Sunday, August 9^th. On the morning following the disappearance of the women, a relative of Ms. Galán filed a missing person report with the OIJ precinct in Limon. Later that day, farmers alerted the OIJ of a rental car found in a deep ravine in the Pandora sector of the Valle de la Estrella (Star Valley), which is a banana-producing region.

The abandoned car was recovered by the rental car agency and taken to a service shop in San Jose, where OIJ agents assigned to the evidence collection section conducted an inspection. Although no clues were found in the rental car, OIJ agents in Limon combed the forest patch around the ravine and found and empty purse, a shoe, and a fanny pack that seems to belong to one of the tourists.

At this time, the OIJ agents are working on drafting a preliminary report of their findings in this mysterious case.
