SIGN UP FOR OUR Andrea Calderon, former host and presenter of a youth-oriented television show, is at the center of a sordid investigation as to why several photos she thought were taken in an intimate setting are now going viral on various social networks.
The latest updates on this scandal was revealed on Facebook and through an interview with a local entertainment reporter. Miss Calderon posted a cryptic update on her popular Facebook profile, in which she frequently posts photos of herself wearing bikinis of slight fabric content. The update is as follows:
“If I could only erase all the mistakes from my past, I would be erasing all the wisdom of my present reality.”
In her interview with Diario Extra, Miss Calderon explained that she in fact appears on all the photos being furiously shared on social media, and that they were taken by a jilted former boyfriend, whom she trusted to never do something so scandalous. Furthermore, Miss Calderon also mentioned that she was blackmailed prior to the release of the photos.
It is not known whether the blackmail demands included extortion, a disturbing 21st century trend that revolves around digital video and photography published on social media. Miss Calderon reported the blackmail incident to the Office of Judicial Investigations (Spanish initials: OIJ), and the case is under investigation. There are also reports of a pornographic video featuring Miss Calderon, but she has dispelled such rumors.
As previously reported by The Costa Rica Star, Miss Calderon made headlines back in early September when a set of compromising photos were first shared on Facebook. One of the photos reportedly showed Miss Calderon and two other women, who appear to be her co-hosts on the TV show El Ultimo Pasajero (The Last Passenger), topless and wearing diminutive lingerie bottoms. Another photo focused directly on Miss Calderon’s genitalia.
After two seasons of The Last Passenger, the show has gone on hiatus and it is uncertain whether it will return. The show is essentially a contest and variety series that features light-hearted humor and focuses on teaching young people in Costa Rica values such as respect for the elderly, nature conservation, affinity for education, and others.
The Last Passenger aired from Monday to Friday at 4:30 pm on Teletica (Channel 7). While the show enjoyed good ratings, some viewers complained that the attire worn by the three attractive female presenters was a too tight and scant for a youth program in Costa Rica.
