CINDE News Release – San Jose, Costa Rica. US based Ingram Micro Inc. officially opened its shared services center and its second facility in Costa Rica. It began operations with 135 employees but due to the increase in functions, languages and geographies forecast to serve, the company projects to double that number in the coming months. The inauguration took place last Thursday.

Ingram Micro will provide support services in finance, purchasing, supply chain, sales management, customer service and technical support from Costa Rica to Latin America. This center will also be part of the global network that provides services to all the countries where the company operates, which could translate into new opportunities in the future. To meet the required talent, the company will aim to attract graduates from technical high-schools and universities in careers such as business administration, accounting and information technology. It will offer opportunities for professionals in purchasing, sales and technical support.
Alexander Mora, the Minister of Foreign Trade,  who attended the grand opening, celebrated the occasion and called it good news for the development aspirations of the country. “The accelerated growth of Ingram Micro in Costa Rica, due to the excellent contribution that human talent provides to its operation, and the stable business platform that the country has, is a very strong sign of our allurement as a hub to host successful investment projects. The list of success stories by companies that started more moderate operations and quickly evolved and incorporated new processes and expansions in our territory is large and continues to grow. ” After congratulating and thanking the company for their confidence again in Costa Rica, Minister Mora said: “This opening fills the Government of the Republic with satisfaction and pride, and certainly many Costa Ricans too, since this represents greater new job opportunities. Business expansions as robust as Ingram Micro’s have become guarantors of growth in the exports of services that run from Costa Rica to the world. In 2015, exports of IT and information services, plus other business services, accounted for 6.2% of our GDP, “he said.
With this grand opening, the multinational consolidates its second operation in the country. In 2013, Ingram Micro installed a re-manufacturing plant dedicated to the repair and refurbishment of mobile phones as part of their area of Mobility. With nearly 400 employees, it is considered the largest plant of this nature in Costa Rica.
“The shared services center is part of our expansion in the country and is carried out independently from our other lines of business, such as Mobility. The decision to settle in Costa Rica is part of a corporate strategy to continuously enhance the way we do business by optimizing operation costs, as well as standardizing and improving business units, “said Jeff Aldaz, Vice President, Global Shared Services Ingram Micro.
He added that Costa Rica offers the best conditions to implement corporate plans, thanks to the high educational level of its people, its favorable conditions for business development and the expertise in the area of shared services.
Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of CINDE explained that “the company now adds to its cell repair center, a new modern operations facility to service high-value corporate services. For Costa Rica, the dynamism shown by foreign investment companies, reflects in the number of jobs reported. In 2015 employment reached by multinationals grew at a 9.1% rate, three times faster than the rest of the private and the overall country’s employment rate. “
The company has available positions for those who want to broaden their professional experience and create a career in the dynamic technology industry.
