New York City authorities on Thursday removed a life-size, naturally-colored statue of a completely naked Donald Trump from Union Square in downtown Manhattan.

 

The statue is the work of a group of artists known as Indecline, which by placing the figure of the Republican presidential nominee in the middle of a heavily traveled square were aiming to protest the attitudes and statements of the GOP candidate.

 

The naked and flesh-colored sculpture of a paunchy Trump – except for his orange combover – stood glued with epoxy to the square for about two hours before personnel from the city’s Parks Department removed ist, with the department saying in a communique that it is illegal to display artwork in public without the proper permits.

 

Before it was withdrawn, numerous passersby, including tourists, were able to take pictures of – and with – the sculpture.

 

Indecline carried out similar protests against the mogul in Seattle, Cleveland, Los Angeles and San Francisco, saying in a statement: “Unlike the statues, it’s our hope that Donald Trump, our modern day Emperor of Fascism and Bigotry is never installed in the most powerful political and military position in the world. These fleeting installations represent this fleeting nightmare, and in the fall, it is our wish to look back and laugh at Donald Trump’s failed and delusional quest to obtain the presidency.”

 

Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee is organizing a gimmicky attack around the country at Trump rallies and outside of the Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan, where protestors are holding signs that say “Donald Ducks Releasing His Taxes” complete with a Duck mascot. EFE
