Starbucks Coffee Company will present this January 26th the new Hacienda Alsacia coffee, harvested in their property in Costa Rica.

Carlos Mario Rodríguez, director of the Product Support Center and Mónica Bianchini country manager for Starbucks Coffee will be part of the presentation of this coffee, grown in the property the company acquired in 2013 near the Poás Volcano in Alajuela with the purpose of making it an agricultural research center.

The property in Costa Rica is part of the global work the company carries out in five other agronomic global centers located in Ruanda, Tanzania, Colombia and China.

The presentation of the first coffee grown in Costa Rica tightens the relationship of the company with the country, which started out with the purchase of local coffee, followed by the installation of a farmer support center in San Jose in 2004, and finally the opening of different coffee shops which began in 2012.

Back in December Starbucks presented its plan of global growth to its investors, in which Howard Schultz, its general director, confirmed they are planning to open 12,000 new locations around the world within the next five years, which would represent a growth of almost a 50%.

In Costa Rica, Starbucks plans to have a total of 25 locations by 2020.

This company also offers seminars in the country where they teach of the history, origin and characteristics of the different types of coffee they offer.
