Expomovil 2017 – Costa Rica car expo kicks off this Thursday

The new cars fair “Expomóvil” kicks off this Thursday and will extent through Sunday, March 26th at the Pedregal Event Center in San Antonio de Belén, Heredia.

More than 20 cars and motorcycle agencies will take part in this fair, as well as 9 banking institutions.

Entrance tickets will have a cost of ¢3,000.00 ($5.50 USD), and the same cost for parking. The fair will open Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. , Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The schedules this year have been extended through late hours of the night to give more opportunities to the public, specially considering difficult traffic in the area.

According to organizers of the event, past editions have received up to 70,000 people during the total days of the fair and they expect to surpass this number; this year the exhibit area is much bigger, and walking through the whole expo will take close to one hour.

Sport SUV’s, hybrids and turbo line are part of the novelties in the fair, agencies will be presenting new models and changes in their different lines. The special prices and conditions offered during the fair are its main attraction.

An Audi Q2 (sport SUV), will be presented for the first time with a price of $39,950.00 – $48,500.00.

This year the Association of Importers of Vehicles and Machinery (Aivema) expects to surpass the number of cars sold in previous editions, in 2016 they had an increase of at least a 15% in comparison to 2016; however according to a consumer survey carried out by the Statistics School of the University of Costa Rica in February of 2017, 62% of the consumers believe this is a bad time to buy a new vehicle.
