Pablo Arce took part of the Ironman competition that took place in Woodlands, TX, USA and set a new record for Costa Rica, with nine hours, four minutes and thirty seconds.

The Civil Engineer that competed in the category of 30-34 years, finished the swimming competition, which involved 3.8km, with a time of 1:05:23; he then took on the cycling stage of 180 kilometers and concluded with 4:44:45; he finished the Ironman with running the 42 kilometer marathon, stopping the clock at 9:04:30.

He finished fifth in his category and in position 33 in the general table; he managed to classify to the World Championship in Kona Hawaii which is scheduled for October 14, 2017. He took part of this event last year and he was also the Costa Rican with the best time.

Pablo trains on his own, “When I started practicing triathlon I had very good trainers, but I enjoy doing it by myself, I demand more and the results continue to improve year after year. I do a lot of research and listen to my body. I think no one knows better than each of us when our body needs more or less rest. The key to improve has been the consistency in the training during several years. I started at the end of 2009. This was my eight full IronMan”.

The level of the triathletes in Costa Rica continues to raise as many prepare to take part on the IronMan 70.3 (Half IronMan) event that will take place in Carrillo, Guanacaste next June 18.
