Ariana Grande’s concert in Costa Rica takes place today, July 9 at Parque Viva and the Costa Rican police and security organisms in the country as well as private security hired by the production are taking additional precautions to assure the safety of all the attending public.

Yesterday, through Facebook , a user made serious threats and spoke of a possible “attack” during the concert ; the OIJ ( Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigative Police) immediately started the investigation, apparently the threat was written in Arabic; this morning the authorities confirmed they had follow the leads and arrested the suspect, a 22 year-old Colombian with last names Caicedo López.

The director of OIJ, Walter Espinoza, explained that they tracked the IP and in this way they determined the messages were sent from cell phones located in Los Colegios de Moravia.

Espinoza also mentioned that regardless of the intent, if it was meant as a “joke” or not, “our job is to verify whether or not there is a real threat, because this is a very sensitive situation and it could lead to a tragedy”.

Parque Viva and One Entertainment released a statement later in the day explaining the situation and confirming they had taken the necessary measures to guarantee the security during the concert. The attending public will have to go through three security check ups, one done by the Costa Rican police, another one by private security and a last one organized by Grande’s security personnel.

The security for Grande’s concerts have been strengthened ever since the explosion that took place after her concert in the Manchester Arena back in May and where as a consequence 22 people lost their lives.

Costa Rican police has taken all necessary precautions working together with the red cross, firefighters and the Intelligence Security Office.

This is the only concert, part of her “Dangerous Woman” tour, the teen idol will offer in Central America, since, according to One Production, Costa Rica was the only site that complied with the technical conditions for the show’s setup. Latin boy band CCNCO and Costa Rican Fatima Pinto will be opening the concert.
