Costa Rican coffee is regarded worldwide, yet, believe it or not sometimes it is not easy to find the best quality coffee in the Costa Rican coffee shops, this is because the majority of the best coffee is exported; that’s why Café Don Mayo decided several years back to open a specialty coffee shop with high-quality coffee of their own production.
The best grains of coffee are selected from their properties in Tarrazú, the first coffee shop opened doors in 2013 in Alajuela, a second location was inaugurated in 2015 in downtown San José, their reputation for their excellent coffee and service grew and now they are opening their third shop in Plaza Bratsi, Heredia.
With an investment of close to US$30,000.00 Café Don Mayo in Heredia will officially open doors this September 1st; besides excellent coffee, Don Mayo also offers bakery and pastries, paninis, crepes, desserts and of course their own brand of coffee for clients to take home and enjoy every day.
The coffee is produced in plantations located between 1650 and 2100 meters above sea level, have several varieties, Caturra, Catuaí, Borbon, Gesha, Típica, among others; the entire process is environmentally friendly; their coffee is exported to markets such as Japan, South Korea, USA, UK, Norway, Germany, and Australia.
In this new location Don Mayo will continue to serve “the world’s finest coffee” said Auxiliadora Bonilla, owner of Don Mayo Coffee Shop, Heredia and she continued, “The mission of Café Don Mayo is to offer Costa Ricans a coffee produced in their own country with the best quality of the market”.
Recently Starbucks announced the opening of their 12th coffee shop in Costa Rica which will be located also in Heredia but in Paseo de las Flores Mall.
