Costa Rican Music Band Will Participate in Rose Parade 2019

The Municipal Band of Acosta will represent Costa Rica in the 2019 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.

According to the band’s director José Manuel Mora, the band sent the application to participate since February, and a video was sent (included below) where the strengths of the band were highlighted.

The Acosta band was founded in 2008 and has participated in national and international festival; it is known for interpreting different type of music, from traditional Costa Rican music to popular Latin American rhythms. This band has won the first place at the Costa Rica Festival of the Light two years in a row.

“Very happy an honored, but also grateful to God to be able to share the blessing we received. We confirm we are honored that we will be representing Costa Rica and Latin America in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California in January 2019”, states the band in the official announcement in their Facebook page, “We will give the best of us to proudly represent our community and the entire country in one of the most important parades in the world”.

“Now we begin with a process of a lot of work, we have to think of the visas and passports for all the members of the band. We have to look for sponsorship, accommodations and food. We have a great support from the parents association and we will be coordinating different activities to be able to pay all the expenses, since the organization helps us in other aspects”
, explained Mora.

The band is formed by 150 members.
