Once again officers of the National Coast Guard Service in Costa Rica found cocaine packets floating in the ocean.
The Ministry of Public Security explained that a total of 24 packages were found this Friday, October 20, about 200 kilometers southwest of Golfito in the South Pacific when the officers were patrolling the area.

Just this past October 6th the Coast Guard came across 44 cocaine packets tied to a radio buoy close to Golfo Duce also in the South Pacific and back in July 24 a total of 55 packs were also found in waters of the South Pacific.
Unfortunately in these cases the police is unable to make any arrests.

“Our institution needs to continue with intense actions to battle drug trafficking and strengthen the security of all the citizens. This is an order given to all police bodies by the Ministry of Public Security”, stated Gustavo Mata, Minister of Public Security.

The packets found add to the more than 20 tons of cocaine that has been seized so far this year.

The United States Government donated two last generation ships to the Costa Rica Coast Guard Service that should be arriving to the country by May 2018 and that will be used among other things in antinarcotic operations.
