KidZania is one of the fastest growing kids’ entertainment franchises with 24 locations in 20 countries and 11 new locations under development; it consists on an interactive kids’ city which combines fun and learning and has different options for young children and teens up to 14 years of age.
KidZania was created in Mexico and the franchise is being brought to Costa Rica by Cuestamoras Urbanismo. This is the first confirmed commerce in the Oxígeno complex, a “Human Playground” under construction in San Francisco, Heredia.
More than a playground, KidZania was created by educators with the objective of providing a learning experience for kids while they also have fun, it recreates a city where children can experience many different activities. Being a firefighter, a doctor, a police officer, a dentist, these are just some of the options they will have at KidZania, where they will receive credits to continue playing other games.
Each of the areas at KidZania is “sponsored”, and therefore it will be personalized for each brand. This is a very good fit for the concept of Oxígeno, which is conceived with entertainment as its main attraction, inspired in Universal City Walk in Orlando, Florida and L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.
Although different stores and restaurants are part of the project, sports, live shows and entertainment areas will take the majority of the space at this mega-project. The first stage is expected to open doors in the second semester of 2018 while the complete project won’t be completed until 2020.
