The question is very common, if you had to recommend the best places to visit in Costa Rica, those that left you in awe, which would they be?

Here we leave you our list of the seven wonders of Costa Rica, magical places that locals and foreigners should make time to experience, some of them are very popular, others, not so much:

1) Rio Celeste: The turquoise water of this river attracts thousands of visitors every year, it is not every day that you see a river this color, beautiful and surrounded by exuberant vegetation. Rio Celeste is located in the limit of the Tenorio Volcano National Park, the area in itself deserves a visit, it has incredible views, wildlife and it is a perfect option for those that enjoy hiking.

2) Marino Ballena National Park: This park is home to the famous whale tail, a natural formation of rocks and sand in the shape of a tail, located in the exact spot where tourists go every year to try and see up-close the many humpback whales and dolphins that congregate in the waters of this amazing national park.

3) Chapel in the Clouds: This is not a common tourist destination, actually not a lot of people know of it or have been here, located in Olan, Buenos Aires, Puntarenas, just getting here is an adventure on its own. A small and romantic wooden chapel in the middle of nowhere.

4) Curú Wildlife Refuge: It doesn’t appear in the majority of tourist sites, but Curu Wildlife Refuge has a lot to offer, a variety of wildlife and isolated beaches, including Quesera where you may get to witness the phenomenon of bioluminescence.

5) Rincón de la Vieja National Park: The most popular volcanoes in Costa Rica are the Arenal, Poas and Irazu, all amazing and unique; however the Rincon de la Vieja in Guanacaste has a charm of its own with abundant wildlife, hot springs, waterfalls and bubbling mud pools, this national park has everything a great adventure should offer.

6) Cahuita and Manzanillo: The South Caribbean of Costa Rica is culture, life, raw nature and beauty in the simplest form; a 45-minute drive separates Cahuita National Park from Manzanillo, you can enjoy the morning in one and watch the sunset in the other one; pristine beaches, incredible nature, amazing views, peace and life all around.

7) Corcovado National Park: It has been included in the top 10 of the best National Parks in the World by Discovery Corp. an incredibly biodiverse place.

Granted, places such as Manuel Antonio National Park, Isla del Coco, Cerro Chirripó, Arenal Volcano, are also great destinations, but they are usually listed in all tourism websites. Which one would you add to the list?
