Residents to the East of San Jose, have a new movie theater since this past December when the Imax Hybrid experience opened doors in Ciudad del Este, Curridabat.

With an investment of over $5 million Nova Cinemas opened doors of its third location in Costa Rica and the first hybrid movie theater, which consists on a combination of VIP service and regular seats in the same room.

Imax opened their first movie theater in Costa Rica back in 2009 in Avenida Escazu with one Imax room, two VIP rooms and regular theater rooms; in 2015 it opened its second location in Plaza Real Alajuela.

“We noticed that the East zone of San Jose wanted to live the Nova experience with easiness and we took advantage of the fact that Ciudad del Este gathered all the conditions that we required to guarantee the same”, stated Gustavo Sáenz, general manager of Nova.

The company is now planning the remodeling of the Escazu complex for the upcoming months.

The Great Showman, Jumanji, Ole, Hombre de Fe (Keylor Navas movie), Coco and Star Wars: Episode VIII are part of the movies currently showing in the new location.
