The constant rainfall of the last few weeks and the closing of the internal ducts allowed the hot water lake in the crater of the Poas Volcano to reappear.

The information was released by the National Seismology Network and the Observatory of Volcanic and Seismic Activity in Costa Rica (OVSICORI) this Saturday at noon.

According to the National Seismology Network the activity registered at the Poas Volcano in the last few days has been low; there is no emission of ash but the permanent degassing continues.

The Poas Volcano National Park remains closed as preventive measure, however the National System of Areas of Conservation (SINAC) is evaluating along with the National Emergency Commission and the OVSICORI the possibility of reopening in a short term.

The closure of the National Park has had severe financial repercussions for both the locals that depend on the tourism that visits the Park and also for SINAC since the Poas Volcano was one of the most visited attractions in the country.
