Two Events For Coffee Lovers in Costa Rica

Some of the best coffee in the world is produced in Costa Rica, and certainly the culture of coffee in this Central American country has transcended through history and this beverage continues to be today one of the favorite of Ticos and people all over the world.

Every year there are different events and festivals where coffee takes the center stage, February already has two lined up:

Viva el Café Festival: The National Stadium in La Sabana is the selected venue for this festival that will take place February 24 and 25 from 11 a.m. and through 8 p.m. More than 50 stands will be available with information on different coffee brands, producers, coffee based products, coffee shops, gourmet products, etc. The event is also a family activity with live music, workshops and cultural activities. Also two competitions will take place, the National Barista Championship , where a representative will be selected to represent the country in the world championship that will be in the Netherlands this year, and the National Coffee Tasters Championship where precision, ability, speed and knowledge will define who will represent Costa Rica in the World Cup Tasters Championship in Dubai this September.

Expocafé Tarrazu: Tarrazu Coffee Expo, will take place February 16 through February 18 at the San Marcos de Tarrazu park. This is the third edition of this event were 60 small and medium size businesses gather to showcase their products, services and creativity. Yogurt, candy, punch and pastries prepared with coffee as well as crafts and beauty products will be available at this event. Tours will also be offered for visitors to get familiar with the process of coffee production.
