This Monday, February 12 the road work near the Juan Santamaria Airport will begin with the purpose of improving the flow of vehicles in this area.
According to engineer German Valverde, Minister of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT), they will address two initial parts of the project , the construction of the loop that will connect the General Cañas highway to Route 3 (Rio Segundo) and the work to connect the county road (by the catholic church in INVU Las Cañas) to the radial Alajuela (by the City Mall bridge).
The road work that will be done by the Municipality of Alajuela with assistance of MOPT will not affect the users and is not expected to create any traffic problems.
Once these initial stages are completed they will proceed with the expansion of the road in front of the Fiesta Casino to create an additional lane and other changes, such as the elimination of traffic lights and the extension of the airport intersections which will involve the elimination or reduction of some of the current “islands”, that will allow for a better flow of vehicles.
The projects should be completed by the end of April, these works are part of the project for the extension of the San Jose-San Ramon road.
