Costa Rican Drug Control Police (PCD) stopped a trailer truck close to the frontier with Nicaragua (Peñas Blancas) which was carrying USD $562,200.00 hidden in the front differential .

The trailer truck was in route Guatemala-Costa Rica and was transporting cleaning products.

“The detained driver of last names Soto de León, he is a 44-year-old Guatemalan who had a total of 58 packages with dollar bills for a grand total of $569,200.00”, confirmed the Ministry of Security.

In another case, the police seized USD $18,781 from a couple at the Juan Santamaria Airport .

The man of last name Cubero and the one of last name Arauz did not declare the amount that they were carrying in their luggage. “They came in from Guatemala aboard flight 463 from Volaris”, stated the press release from the Ministry of Security.
