The musical Chicago had ten presentations last year at the Melico Salazar Theater in Costa Rica, the turn out was a great success and for this reason, Luciernaga Producciones will bring the famous play to the stage again from April 21 through May 6th in a total of twelve shows.

“It is gratifying to know that people got interested last year, but it’s also a shame that so many were unable to get tickets because the last days were sold out, but the first days weren’t. We want to defend the quality of the show and see a full house in every presentation”, commented Silvia Baltodano, cofounder of Luciernaga Producciones and who gives life to Roxie Hart on stage.

The American musical Chicago is based on a 1926 play of the same name by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins. The story is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice, and it is based on a true story of a murder that took place in Chicago in 1924.

In total, around 20 actors, singers and dancers take part of this musical, where Sylvia Baltodano in her role of Roxie Hart is accompanied by Isabel Guzman as Velma Kelly; Adrian Cespedes as Billy Flynn and Charlene Stewart takes the role of Mama Morton.

Adrian Castro, Director of the show confirmed that there will be minimum changes to the show presented last year, three cast members had to be replaced since the original members could not participate this year for personal reasons, and there will be some minor changes in the set; aside from this Castro stated, their main challenge is to raise the artistic level.

Ticket prices and the date when they will be up for sale will be announced in the following weeks.
