The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola first took place in 2006 with the objective of bringing the most iconic trophy in soccer close to millions of fans across the globe.

The original trophy, that will be given to the Russia World Cup champion in July 15, 2018, made of solid 18 carat gold and with a weight of 6.14 kilograms tours 51 countries, 91 cities and a total of 152 thousand kilometers in nine months aboard the Trophy Tour Plane

“The FIFA World Cup Trophy™ Tour by Coca-Cola is a rare opportunity for fans to see the Original Trophy up close and have their experience captured with a photograph. It’s an exciting and exclusive experience since the Trophy is otherwise only displayed at the FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich, during the FIFA World Cup Final Draw and at the final match of every FIFA World Cup™”, explains the FIFA website.

The trophy will arrive in Costa Rica on Saturday, April 7 at around 11 a.m. and it will be received by Costa Rican authorities and the Soccer Federation (FEDEFUTBOL), activities will be organized with the participation of the World Cup Mascot, the wolf Zabivaka, in the Central Avenue and the Plaza de la Cultura.

The trophy will then be in display in an activity at the National Stadium on April 8; in order to get a ticket for this activity the public must access the Coca-Cola For Me app and exchange the codes found in the different Coca-Cola products for “bubbles” which can then be exchanged for tickets.

“On Sunday we will have a player from “La Sele” (the national soccer team), technological experiences, and a space to take photos with the trophy. We will also have a giant Costa Rica flag for everyone to sign and that will be given to the FEDEFUTBOL who will give it to the players as it was done four years ago”, explained William Segura, manager of Public Affairs and Communication for Coca-Cola Central America.

The public will also be able to visit the Costa Rica soccer museum at the stadium.

The event begins at 9 a.m. on Sunday and the tours will conclude at 6 p.m. the activity will finish with fireworks at 6:45 p.m.

The only person allowed holding the World Cup Trophy will be the President Luis Guillermo Solis. The FIFA ambassador to Costa Rica will be David Trezeguet French-Argentinian football player winner of the 1998 World Cup as part of the French soccer team.

The tour kicked off in Moscow, Russia and it returns to the host country in May just ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.
