A strange car accident in which a vehicle fell from the fourth floor of a parking lot in Costa del Este, Panama, caused the death of a 19-year old Costa Rican, a 17 year-old Venezuelan girl and her father, a 60-year old man.

Apparently the young man, identified as Abel Sandi, was in the car with two friends, of last names Murillo Perrone, and the father of both a man named Eduardo Murillo; one of the sisters, Paola Murillo, died while the other one, Sabrina Murillo, 20-years of age was badly hurt and transferred to the Santo Tomas Hospital.

The accident occurred in the PH Breeze building this Thursday morning, and the exact cause is still unknown, theories point to a problem with the car’s brakes or a possible human error in which the driver could have stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake.

According to Rafael Baloyes, district attorney of the homicides division, the person driving was Eduardo Murillo.

The car, a red Mini Cooper is going to be checked by experts to conclude whether there was a possible mechanical failure. The structure of the building is also being checked for evidence and details on the possible cause of the tragic accident.

Sandi, had graduated from Pan-American high school in Costa Rica in 2015 and was in the second year of Civil Engineering in the University of Costa Rica. The Murillo Perrone family used to live in Costa Rica.

The body of Abel Sandi, arrived this evening in Costa Rica, transported in a Panamanian plane. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29th in Alajuela.
