Costa Rica is already positioned as one of the preferred choices for North Americans as a medical and dental tourism destination , it is known that the treatments most commonly sought in the country are esthetic procedures; however, an alliance between the San Rafael Arcangel Hospital in Liberia, Guanacaste and Centro de Radioterapia Siglo XXI, hope to position the country on the map as a medical tourism option for the treatment of cancer.

Marianela Camacho, administrative director of Centro de Radioterapia Siglo XXI, explained “With the technology we have now we can compete at an international level, and focus on the international market, offering treatments for expats living in or traveling to Costa Rica and in the area of medical tourism. We offer treatments with the same protocols as the United States, following the same standards, and we have international accreditations. Our prices are as much as 40% less than those of developed countries like the United States, we want to promote ourselves as a country with high technology in treatments as complex as in the case of cancer”.

The radiotherapy center offers equipment that combines radiosurgery, radiotherapy and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).

The services offered by the hospital and the radiation center will benefit national and foreign patients. For treatment of oral cancer and reconstruction, see https://drreichesurgeon.com, Dr. Reiche, a US trained dental surgeon.

“Costa Rica has become an important destination for medical tourism and we can open a new niche for the attention of patients with cancer, the success rates are high thanks to the use of high technology equipment that eliminates cancer cells in less time and with less radiation”, stated Camacho.
