Costa Rican Authorities Seize 360 Kilograms of Cocaine With Street a Value of 9 Million USD

Costa Rican Drug Control Police (PCD) officers found 300 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a container aboard a cargo ship in the port of Moin, Limon.

The PCD agents arrived in Moin to check the ships, the drugs were found in a container on the ship MN Cala Palma which originated from Turbo in Colombia but traveled under Italian flag.

According to information released by the Ministry of Public Security, the drugs were hidden in the ventilation ducts of a refrigerated container, a total of 300 kilograms of cocaine packed with green and transparent plastic and with two different logos.

Meanwhile, in a road control operation, officers of the Public Force of Naranjo in Alajuela intercepted two men aboard a white Kia who were transporting 60 kilograms of drugs.

The driver of last name Garita is 37 years-old and had been stopped in the past for speeding and resistance to authority; his companion, also 37 and of last name Guerrero had no criminal record.

Police officers checked the car with the assistance of the K-9 unit, and that’s how they found the load of drug hidden in a special compartment under the car seats.

The packages were wrapped in brown paper with a logo of an apple. Officers also seized  $4,380.00 USD and 196 thousand colones.
