An investment of close to $13 million made possible the construction of the Costa Rican Oncology Center (Centro Oncológico Costarricense) a medical center in La Uruca, San Jose, that will open doors this Novemeber offering the latest in treatments for cancer patients.

The five floor medical tower is equipped to treat an approximate 1200 patients a month, and it offers unique medical equipment that will not only benefit Costa Rican patients but also foreigners seeking alternative treatments in the region at an affordable price.

The Oncology Center is one of six in the Latin American region to have a Cybernife robotic radiosurgery system, technology that allows to treat cancerous and non-cancerous tumors and other targets precisely delivering radiation anywhere in the body more accurately than standard radiotherapy devices, it is also painless for the patient.

The Pet-CT device is another of the modern options offered, this system uses radiotracers, a camera and computer to help evaluate organ and tissue functions, this system helps detect the early onset of cancer before it is evident on other imaging tests.
