Police authorities of the Ministry of Public Security seized a total 428 kilograms of cocaine and arrested three suspects that traveled aboard the vessel.

The vessel was intercepted in waters of the Pacific, southeast of Cabo Blanco in the Nicoya Peninsula. The ship had Ecuadorian license, according to the National Coastguard Service.

Upon inspection, the Drug Control Police found the packets of drugs in a hidden compartment on the floor of the ship.

The men detained are an Ecuadorian of last name Davil and two Colombians, one of last name Quiñones and the other one Rivas. The three were sent to preventive imprisonment for 6 months; if they are found guilty in the trial they could face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
