For a second time, the Nicaraguan Government insults the President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, calling him “nosy, impolite, snide, racist and meddler”, this in response to the position that Alvarado and the Costa Rican Government has maintained in the different International Organizations and events regarding the crisis that Nicaragua has been facing since April this year.

The insults were part of a press release posted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua this past Friday.

“The President of Costa Rica, calls out and demands from Nicaragua and Venezuela, like a street light that doesn’t see or wants to see the disorder, the darkness in his own home, where, social, economic and institutional conflicts have spread since the beginning of his Government, reports of abuse and corruption, repression, wounded and murdered”, states the press release.

President Carlos Alvarado, expressed, during his participation at the XXVI Ibero-American Presidents’ Summit in Guatemala this week, his concern over the situation that has affected Nicaragua since April 2018 and which has caused the deaths of over 350 people.

“We are very concerned and hurt by what is happening in the sister Republic of Nicaragua”, said Alvarado, who requested the use of diplomacy and mediation from the international community, he also reaffirmed the commitment of the country to contribute “with overcoming this serious political, economic, social, and humanitarian crisis”.

He also referred to the situation in Costa Rica, “even when facing economic pressure and some voices of hatred, we have responded in an organized, responsible and supportive manner, placing respect as the main point along with dignity and the security of the people”.

This was not taken well by Nicaragua, “we emphatically reject the pro-imperialism attitude, arrogance, and lack of intelligence or diplomatic sensitivity that he (Carlos Alvarado) has demonstrated”.
