Boxer Francisco Fonseca took a unanimous decision loss at hands of Philadelphia native, Tevin Farmer, who successfully defended his IBF World Super Featherweight belt for a second time.

Fonseca had the dream of becoming the first Costa Rican male world champion, unfortunately, his skills fell short to Farmer’s ring experience.

The Costa Rican-Nicaraguan boxer certainly gave Farmer a very hard time, there was a good exchange of punches throughout the fight and in general they delivered an entertaining bout for the fans gathered at the Madison Square Garden in New York City; yet, Fonseca also had several failures on his defensive game, he took more punches than necessary and didn’t manage to capitalize on the few opportunities he had to connect a good punch, Farmer’s speed also took an important toll on Fonseca, at the end, the fight was scored 117-111 unanimously in favor of Farmer who added the 28th victory for his career.

Fonseca now boasts two losses, both came in world championship bouts.
