Costa Rican Authorities Seize 27 Bags of Cocaine Abandoned in Parrita

Costa Rican authorities found an important amount of cocaine abandoned close to a boat that ran aground in the area of Playa Bejuco in Parrita, Puntarenas which only had aboard some containers with fuel.

An alert was received by the Public Police Force in Parrita, informing of the abandoned boat and that apparently it was transporting drugs; officers of the National Coast Guard Service and the the Public Police Force immediately arrived at the site with the support of Air Surveillance.

The packages were not aboard the vessel, but some 50 meters from the where the boat was found several packages were found in the mangrove area.

In total, authorities counted 27 bags containing what appears to be cocaine; the drug was transported by Air Surveillance to carry out the necessary testing and to weight the packages.

Searches were done in the area to try to locate the crew of the abandoned boat with no positive results.
