The Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications announced that Costa Rica will host the biggest human rights event in the digital era, RightsCon 2020.

The announcement was made at the end of the RightsCon 2019 which took place in Tunisia with 2500 participants from 130 countries.

“Back in October we presented the Digital Transformation Strategy towards the Costa Rica of the Bicentennial 4.0, where we focus on the people and the human rights in the digital era. In order to have a real impact on people we work hand in hand with the private sector, academy and civil society. Our country set goals on topics such as 5G, innovation, disruptive technologies, artificial intelligence, data protection and cybersecurity to mention a few. For this reason it is not a coincidence that Costa Rica was selected to host this conference”, commented Luis Adrián Salazar, Minister of Science and Technology.

RightsCon gathers civil society, business leaders, representatives of the governments, the most important companies in the area of digital technology and the highest exponents in human rights, all with the purpose of having a more connected world.

Topics include artificial intelligence, digital disruption, cybersecurity, connectivity, internet of things, smart cities and the impact of technology to reach sustainable development goals.
