BREAKING: First Death Caused by Coronavirus in Costa Rica

The Ministry of Health has confirmed to The Star the first death of a coronavirus patient in Costa Rica. An 87 year old man who remained in the intensive care unit of the Alajuela hospital.

The President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, commented on social media “At 4:15 pm Costa Rica registered it’s first death as a result of Covid-19, a senior citizen. We solidarice with his family. Let’s react, let’s follow and obey the guidelines of the Ministry of Health. Only united and with solidarity will we overcome this national emergency.”
Senior citizens are part of the vulnerable population.
The Minister of Health urged the population to take matters seriously and warned that cases will probably continue to grow in the next days.

The total number of patients affected by Covid-19 in Costa Rica went from 50 to 69 in the last 24 hours, the age range of the patients goes from 8 to 87 years of age which includes 30 women, 39 men, 63 are Costa Rican and 6 are foreigners.

A total of 855 cases have been discarded.
