VIDEO: 433 Kilograms of Cocaine Seized in Costa Rica Waters After High Speed Chase

Costa Rican authorities seized a shipment of cocaine that was thrown into the ocean.

The operation was carried out Friday May 1st as part of a joint patrolling between the Costa Rican and the USA coast guard services 72 nautical miles south of Quepos in the province of Puntarenas. In total the authorities confiscated 433 packages of cocaine with an approximate weight of 1 kilogram with a street value of almost 26 million USD.

The coast guard services began the high speed chase of a go fast boat in Quepos, when the crew noticed the presence of the authorities, they decided to get rid of the packages. The 15 bags were recovered by the coast guard officers. Unfortunately, they were not able to catch the suspects.

“We continue to work together for the sake of the region and the county to prevent that international organizations use our waters to traffic drugs”, commented Michael Soto, Minister of Public Security.
