Mountain Bike Event Kivelix Trophy, a sporting event directed exclusively to women will be taking place between May 15 and 16 in Hacienda Guachipelin Hotel in Rincón de la Vieja, Guanacaste.
This MTB competition expects to gather at least 150-200 cyclists. Kivelix Trophy consists of two timed stages and general classification, stage 1 scheduled for May 15th starting at 7 a.m. for the first block and 10 a.m. for the second block, this initial stage has a total distance of 21 kilometers. The second stage that will take place May 16th is for the junior category only and consists of 19 kilometers. A recreational race will also take place this last date and is also open to male participants.
“The route both days is nice and diverse with segments of open road, trails, rivers, and asphalt, it is a great opportunity to participate in an amazing event and continue making history in female cycling”, stated the organization of the event.

The format of the race, according to its organizer, Katherine Herrera, is “unique” in America, and it’s expected to take place yearly in different locations in the country.
“My objective is to empower them, to make them aware there are exclusive spaces for them to test or live a unique experience in this passionate sport that is practiced by more and more women every time”, explained Herrera to national news website AmeliaRueda.com
Categories are divided by the age of the participants including Master A, B, C and D, Open, Elite, and Junior.
