Costa Rican Cristina Himiob, is a special effects artist who recently won along with other seven members of the AFX Studio- Makeup FX , the Creative Arts Emmy award for her work in the Fox TV series American Horror Story: Roanoke.

The award was given in the category Best Prostetic Make Up for a Series, Mini Series or Special.

In an interview with Costa Rican newspaper La Nacion, Himiob explained “In our work we sculpt, paint and creative molds. Sometimes we reproduce pieces out of silicon to apply them to the actor/actress and turn him into the character he/she must be”.

Himiob and her coworkers received the recognition going up against experts from productions such as Saturday Night Live, Host: Alec Baldwin; The Walking Dead; Penny Dreadful and No Beast So Fierce.

Cristina Himiob was born in San José, Costa Rica and moved to the USA in 1993, studied in Ohio and moved to California in 2012.

The artists has also worked in the WBTV series Super Girl where she helped build the alien ship in which Super Girl travels to earth.

AFX Studio- Makeup FX is David Leroy Anderson’s studio, located in Los Angeles, California; Anderson has worked in important projects such as Man in Black (1998) which warned him an Oscar in his category and The Nutty Professor in 1997; other of his works include Star Trek : In the Darkness and Angels and Demons, among others.
