The National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC-MINAE), informs that the access to the National Parks: Rincon de la Vieja, Tenorio Volcano and Corcovado which had been closed due to the sequels of Hurricane Otte, are once again open to the public.

Since November 29th, the authorities of the Guanacaste Conservation Area authorized the access to the Rincon de la Vieja National Park through the Pailas Sector, area where there’s a combination of volcanic elements, fumaroles, lakes and mud ponds, and variety of ecosystems and impressive landscapes, in this area it is possible to the see the active crater of the volcano, waterfalls and primary forests through 100% natural trails where visitors have the possibility of seeing birds, mammals and reptiles. This is the area of more visitations of the Guanacaste Conservation Area. Additionally this Conservation Area has not opened the sectors of Murcielago, Junquillal and Santa Rosa.

When it comes to the Tenorio Volcano National Park, the access has been reopened as of December 5 with a schedule of 8 a.m. through 2 p.m. . Here visitors can enjoy the wildlife area, the Rio Celeste, one of Costa Rica’s wonders, which is born from the confluence of two crystal clear rivers where the magic of chemistry turns the water a beautiful sky blue.

Corcovado National park opened doors again as of December 7th in the stations of Sirena and Patos.

The environmental authorities of the Conservation Area warn visitors to take all necessary precautions since the rivers in these areas are still presenting a high level of water and rain is still coming down in this region.
