The Tamarindo Commerce and Tourism Chamber summoned its representatives, hoteliers, tour operators, personnel of the Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA), among others, to define the strategies that will guarantee the compliance of new norms that will regulate the different activities carried out in Tamarindo, Guanacaste.

These norms aim to protect the environment as well as care for the health of those participating in the different touristic and entertainment activities in the area. Garbage collection, order, sanitary cabins, and availability of drinking water.

“Tamarindo has become a point of attraction for national and international events, art festivals, and high level sports activities”, said Hernán Imhoff, president of the Tamarindo Commerce and Tourism Chamber.

Organizers of the different activities must also guarantee the adequate use of resources (water, paper and electricity), the compensation of the carbon footprint and spaces free of smoke.

According to Flor Acuña, special events coordinator of the Ecological Blue Flag Program, those in charge of the logistics of the events must present a month ahead of the activity the document defining the different measures that will be taken to comply with all requirements.
