The AHPPA animal shelter in Costa Rica (Facebook), referred to locally as the Refugio, invites animal lovers to attend the annual event, Mutts Party! The event will be held on Saturday March 24th 2012 at the Zamora Estate in Santa Ana, Costa Rica.
The fund raiser event is specifically targeted to help offset costs for the A.H.P.P.A. mobile Spay & Neuter Program, an effective project implemented to offer low-cost vet services to outlaying areas throughout the country. The goal is to help reduce the number of over-population of animals in Costa Rica and to educate pet owners on the importance of spaying and neutering as well as provide low-cost general health care for their pets including vaccinations.
Zamora Estates provides the stunning venue and a delicious luncheon will be served along with wine, beer and soft drinks. A fun-filled thirty minute live auction, hosted by the always fabulous and entertaining, Lisa DeFuso & Tom Humes, will commence following the luncheon.
Tickets for Mutts Party! are $100 per person. Proceeds go directly to the AHPPA Spay and Neuter program.
AHPPA is a legal non-profit organization in both Costa Rica and the United States (a 501-c3 corporation). Legal tax exemptions for all donations are applicable. AHPPA has been successfully operating for the past twenty years. The animal shelter was the first in Costa Rica under the capable and devoted directorship of Lilian Schnog, President.
Located in the mountains of San Rafael de Heredia, the Refugio houses and cares for animals (dogs and cats), until placed for adoption. There is also a Sanctuary for older, harder-to-adopt dogs on the premises. Often, other domestic animals will find their way to the Refugio such as pigs, geese and rabbits. And, the vets at the shelter have performed numerous life saving surgeries with injured or rescued wildlife. The shelter provides a full veterinary clinic with trained and competent veterinarians as well as a retail pet shop. Residents of the shelter, both permanent and temporary, are well tended to and loved by staff and volunteers.
Mutts Party! reservations are required and seating is limited. Contact AHPPA Vice-President, Leigh Monahan: 2269-9707 or email: [email protected] to make your reservation. Or you may pay securely online with a credit card at the event page on wepay.com.
Supporters and fans of the work that AHPPA has accomplished and continues to do for the animals in Costa Rica but whom cannot be in attendance for this event may wish to donate their $100 ticket to the cause. To make a donation of any kind, visit their donations page here.
