Karen Quesada is a glamour model who cuts a familiar figure in the lingerie show circuit in Costa Rica, but she is also becoming known for her political inclination. Miss Quesada is formally seeking election a municipal seat in the Guadalupe district of the central canton of Cartago, the former capital city of Costa Rica.

Miss Quesada is not the only lingerie model running for political office in our country. As recently reported by The Costa Rica Star, former bikini model Evelyn Gonzalez is a mayoral candidate in Heredia, and she is running on the Libertarian ticket. Unlike Miss Gonzalez, however, Miss Quesada is not ready to give up wearing sexy lingerie and sashaying down catwalks in Costa Rica.

In a recent interview with entertainment reporter Ariel Chaves Gonzalez of daily tabloid Diario Extra, Miss Quesada explained that she is not ready to abandon modeling for politics because they are separate parts of her life. She is running on the ticket of the Accessibility Without Exclusion political party (Spanish acronym: PASE).

In Costa Rica, PASE is a singular political platform insofar as its focus on empowering people who live with disabilities, thereby guaranteeing that they are not excluded from the democratic process and that their interests are represented at the municipal and national levels. Miss Quesada explains that she chose an affiliation to PASE because she sees it as a political party that truly serves society.

Miss Quesada believes that lingerie models in Costa Rica fall into an unfair stereotype of attractive women who are thought to be uneducated or unambitious. She realizes that voters in the district she wants to represent at the municipal level are deeply Catholic, but she does not see as a problem since she is of the same faith. Aside from her work as a lingerie model, Miss Quesada works as a small business manager and studies journalism at Universidad Latina.
