The third edition of the Urbana Fashion Street Art 2017 promoted by Traffic Communications filled the Plaza de la Cultura in San José with beautifully decorated sculptures in the shape of mouths.

This cultural initiative has the goal of bringing people close to different manifestations of art in unconventional formats. The past editions featured the essence of eight Costa Rican historic neighborhoods through a photo exhibit and before that giant sculptures of heals took over public spaces of San José.

“We thought of icons that represent our language and freedom of expression and that at the same time generate empathy with the audience. The mouth is a very attractive graphic form. We want to share messages with the intention that they have a positive effect in any public space and those who make use of it”, explained Juan José Durán artistic director of Urbana Fashion Street Art 2017.

There are a total of 13 mouths each painted by a different artist in alliance with commercial brands and featuring positive messages under the creative concept “What We Have to Say”, the artists and brands that took part of this edition include: Marcia Salas (Walmart), Carlos Garcia (Davines), Sara Morales (Spoon), Hernán Arévalo (Colgate), Liz Ortega (Kit Kat) among others.

The sculptures were previously in exhibit at the Real Intercontinental Hotel in Escazú, and shopping centers Multiplaza Escazú, Multiplaza Curridabat and Plaza Tempo.

This is your last chance to admire this works of art that will be in exhibit at Plaza de la Cultura through Monday, September 25th.
