Costa Rica is a perfect spot for bird-watching, and it offers a number of great places where exotic and unique species of birds can be appreciated in their natural habitat, one of this places is the Alexander Skutch Biological Corridor in Quizarra, Perez Zeledon.

This biological corridor also known as Los Cuisingos is managed by the Tropical Scientific Center, the land was donated by Alexander Skutch 25 years ago with the purpose of having an organization dedicated to environmental conservation managing the reserve he founded and where he had conducted years of biodiversity investigations.

Los Cuisingos covers different habitats going from the 800 to the 3,820 meters above sea level, this offers a home to a variety of bird species, among them the turquoise cotinga (Cotinga ridgwayi), the golden-naped woodpecker (Melanerpes chrysauchen); baird’s trogon (Trogón bairdii), black-hooded antshrike (Thamnophilus bridgesi), orange collared manakin (Manacus aurantiacus), riverside wren (Thryothorus semibadius), spot-crowned euphonia (Euphonia imitans) and tangaras, to name a few.

The biological corridor involves 78 hectares and a trail of almost 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) where visitors get to see not only beautiful birds but also other wildlife like anteaters, tayras and monkeys.

A house-museum is also found within the property, this was the home of biologist Alexander Skutch and it contains a lot of his objects and its surrounded by a botanical garden.
