Beijing, Jun 17 (EFE).– Chinese authorities have ordered technology giant Apple to suspend sales of its latest iPhone models in Beijing due to a lawsuit over a patent violation.

The Chinese capital’s Intellectual Property Bureau put sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on hold pending a lawsuit over infringement of a patent held by a Chinese company.

Apple appealed the order and managed to get it suspended, and on Friday announced that all of its mobile phone models are available for purchase.

The transgression of which Apple is being accused is that the exterior design of its two latest iPhones apparently infringes a patent held by China’s Shenzhen Balli company for its 100C smartphone.

Apple’s latest legal problem in China, its second largest market, is one of the many that have dogged it over the past few years. Its iTunes and Movie apps have been blocked from the market, and, according to a BBC report, “it just lost a lawsuit against a Chinese leather goods maker which stamps the name “IPHONE” on its luggage.”

Nor is the impact of such problems confined within China’s borders. According to the Wall Street Journal, “falling iPhone sales in China was a major factor in Apple posting its first quarterly decline in revenue in 13 years in April.” EFE
