The bridge over the San Lorenzo River which connects San Ramon to San Carlos in the Alajuela province collapsed because of the heavy rains that have affected this area in the past day, the bridge is closed for indefinite time.
This is a common route for those traveling to La Fortuna in San Carlos, the Ministry of Public Works (MOPT) will be evaluating the damages on this bridge and other parts of this route that was also affected by several landslides, therefore, MOPT recommends for those traveling to La Fortuna or other areas of San Carlos to use alternative routes such as route 141.
The rains also caused floods in several houses in this region as well as in Cobano, Puntarenas.
The National Meteorology Institute indicated earlier this week that the country has began its transition from the rainy to the dry season this causes hot mornings and isolated afternoon rains; officially the rainy season will conclude November 30 and December will arrive with cold fronts.
