A joint conservation and protection effort by Grupo Vidriero Centroamericano, VICAL and the Costa Rican Tourism Board seeks to value the country’s beautiful scenery and natural resources through the development of responsible consumption habits and choosing glass packaging that is natural, 100% recyclable and reusable.
“For the Costa Rican Tourism Board, it is a pride, but more than anything, a responsibility, to support the “Costa Rica in a Glass Bottle” project, which promotes sustainable practices such as the use of glass to gradually diminish the consumption of disposable packaging. Improving tourism offerings and protecting the 5% of the world’s biodiversity to which Costa Rica is home begins with caring for our natural resources and conservation areas. It involves building awareness among Costa Ricans of caring for our freshwater and ocean resources,” said Alberto López, ICT General Manager.
By admiring breathtaking Costa Rican landscapes through a glass bottle, it speaks to a pride in being Costa Rican, while creating awareness so that an increasing number of people understand the importance of choosing environmentally friendly packaging. Glass, which is natural and 100% recyclable with infinite uses, is being proposed as the best alternative of choice for people who think before making every purchase.
“VICAL, a socially and environmentally responsible company, believes that glass is the most sustainable and responsible packaging thanks to its physical and chemical characteristics and its environmental safety. That is why, since 2011, we have promoted the ‘Por un mundo limpio como el vidrio’ (for a world as clean as glass) initiative, which promotes information across Central America about this wonderful material, as well as on environmentally responsible consumption habits”, said Carolina Lizano, Brand Manager at VICAL Costa Rica.
Most of the images chosen to show Costa Rica in a Glass Bottle were captured by the expert lens of the famous photographer, Sergio Pucci. They include natural areas such as Parque Nacional Tapantí in Cartago, Parque Nacional Marino Marino Ballena in Puntarenas, Playa Cocles in Puerto Viejo, Limón, Laguna de Botos in Poás de Alajuela, Llanos de Cortés in Bagaces, Guanacaste, and the Reserva Nacional Cabo Blanco in Cóbano de Puntarenas.
The creative work featured in Costa Rica in a Glass Bottle can be enjoyed in panels, electronic screens and outdoor signposts throughout the city, and on social media, beginning in the last week of July.
