Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with the President of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solís in a bilateral meeting in New York, in the frame of the United Nations’ General Assembly

Through a video posted on social media, the President of Costa Rica informed of the topics that were discussed with Trudeau, among which were human rights, environment and the economic empowerment of women.

“I took advantage of the opportunity to discuss the topic of the visas to Canada and the complicated process that Costa Ricans are put through to apply for one, Trudeau agreed to revise this situation”, stated the President in a post.

Solís also invited Trudeau to visit Costa Rica.

Currently to apply for a Canadian visa whereas for transit or tourism, the applicant must fill out four forms which have to be presented personally in the offices of the International Organization for Migrations (IOM) along with two passport size photos, fingerprints, the receipt of a payment done in the Banco de Costa Rica for approximately $85.00 and documentation that proves economic solvency and to Costa Rica and the travel itinerary.
