New York, Jan 16 (EFE).– Just two days after Canadian singer Celine Dion lost her husband to cancer, her older brother Daniel died Saturday of the same disease. He was 59.

Daniel Dion, one of the artist’s 13 siblings, died Saturday in Montreal of the brain, tongue and throat cancer he had been fighting, TMZ online entertainment news reported.

Over the past few hours, word has appeared in the media about the delicate state Daniel’s health.

Rene Angelil, the singer’s husband and one-time agent, died Thursday in Las Vegas of another battle against cancer.

In the summer of 2014, Dion, one of Canada’s most internationally renowned vocalists, called off her concerts to take care of Angelil, with whom she had three sons: Rene-Charles, 14, and the 5-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson.

The artist’s former rep had several attacks of cancer, including a throat tumor 20 years ago that reappeared in 2014, after which he retired from being his wife’s agent.

Dion is the Canadian singer with the most record sales in history. She won international fame with her song “My Heart Will Go On,” which became the theme song of the film “Titanic” and which later won her an Oscar for Best Original Song.

Angelil was a well-known agent for musical groups in the Canadian province of Quebec and discovered Dion when she was only 12 years old.

Convinced of the young singer’s potential, Angelil mortgaged his house to dedicate himself full-time to promoting Dion’s career.

After years of working together, Dion and Angelil married unexpectedly in 1994 in Montreal, when she was 26 and he was 52. EFE
