This weekend the sports media’s focus is on the rematch between Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and the native of Kazakhstan, Gennady Golovkin better known as “GGG” (triple G).

The first time these two met in the ring was two years ago, and the fight ended in a controversial split draw.

The biggest boxing event this year, brings once again face to face the Mexican idol who holds a record of 49 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws with a KO ratio of 65% and undefeated “GGG”, considered by many the best middleweight fighter today with an impressive record of 38 wins, no loses and only 1 draw, his KO ratio is 87%.
Golovkin’s WBA and WBC world middleweight titles are on the line, the fight will take place today, September 15 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, it will be distributed by HBO PPV and in Costa Rica you can watch on Canal Space starting at around 9 p.m.

This fight was supposed to take place May 5th (Cinco de Mayo, Mexican Celebration) but it had to be moved to Sept. 15 (Mexico’s Independence celebration) after Alvarez’ blood tests showed traces of prohibited steroid clenbuterol back in February. Canelo claimed the results were caused by eating tainted meat during training camp in Guadalajara.

The situation only added fuel to the fire, creating more controversy and building up the hype for the championship match.

The PPV features Canadian Brandon Cook who is looking to take the title from Mexican Jaime Munguia,also from Canada, David Lemieux vs. Irishman Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan; Nicaraguan boxer Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez is the last fight of the PPV, he will be facing Moises Fuentes.
