Thanks to the joined patrolling carried out by the Costa Rican and United States Coast Guard Service, a vessel was intercepted in waters of the South Pacific carrying 1,005 kilograms of cocaine which was hidden under the ship ‘s prow floor.

The suspects of last names Vásquez Muñoz, 41 years-old and Orozco López, 26, both are second time offenders, they had been detained in December, 2013 with 460 kilograms of cocaine; in this occasion a third man was arrested along with them, of surnames Guerra Carazo and 33 years-old. The three men are Costa Rican.

The US Coast Guard Service located the vessel 67 kilometers from the Golfito Port; once at the port, the Drug Control Police (PCD) confirmed the number of packets some of which were identified with the tag Oso, others with B-6 and a third group with the letter A.
The ship had set sail back on November 21 with only the capitan (Vásquez Muñoz) aboard.

So far this year Public Security has seized over 23 tons of cocaine, while the total among all the police bodies reaches more than 30 tons of this drug.
