It is no surprise that many expatriate families arrive in Costa Rica with high expectations of experiencing a greater quality of life, at least better than in the communities they left behind. We often get to learn about the expat experience from the adults and heads of families, but what about their children? What are their expectations and reactions about being away from home and moving to Costa Rica.
Lisa Vexler of the The Family Freedom Project: A Step-By-Step Guide to Living Abroad with Kids, has taken the time to ask important questions to expat children about their lives in Costa Rica. In this video, we meet 7-year old Charlie from Canada. He seems to really enjoy surfing in Tamarindo Beach, a community with a high number of expatriate families. Although Charlie seems pretty upbeat about Costa Rica, he also talks about some downsides of expat life.
