The Ministry of Health confirmed 1,087 new cases of Covid-19 positive patients for a grand total of 66,689 confirmed cases, out of which 25,706 people are already recovered.

637 people are currently hospitalized, 260 of them in the intensive care unit. Costa Rica has registered 760 deaths related to this virus.

The Government estimates that the hospitals will reach their absolute maximum capacity by the week of October 9th.

The total number of ICU beds for Covid-19 patients is of 359 and at this point, as we mentioned there are already 260 patients in the ICU.

“It is not about scaring anyone, it’s an operational reality”, commented Alexander Solis, executive president of the National Emergency Commission.
