Costa Rica has a number of factors that make it a very attractive destination for medical tourism, and in particular for dental tourism.
According to the National Health Chamber (Promed), close to 45% of foreign tourists that visit the country for medical tourism do so seeking quality dental care. Their statistics show that the majority of this tourists are adults over 45 years-of–age visiting from North America.
“We have the advantage of having a country that offers a lot of attractions to foreign visitors, but when they choose Costa Rica as a destination for dental tourism we have a responsibility to offer them the best service possible from the hand of qualified professionals, with state-of-the-art technology, the highest quality materials and the proper guarantees”, commented Dr. Simon Flikier, from the Flikier Dental Institute.
According to data by the Central Bank, Costa Rica has registered a growth of 33% in the income generated by medical tourism in the past five years.
The country is also one of the five countries that register a higher visitation in this field according to the ranking by magazine International Living, the other four countries included are Mexico, Colombia, Thailand and Malaysia.
“In addition to the fact that the country is a short flight away, has an incredible number of attractions, is a pacific and politically stable country, foreigners have learned that they can find excellent dentists that speak their language and that have studied and prepared both in Costa Rica and outside the country; in addition to this, treatments in Costa Rica can be as much as 75% cheaper than in their homelands”, explained Flikier, who continued “Our clinic is a perfect example, we have made sure to have highly qualified professionals in different specialties, offer the best services and staying up to date with the latest technologies and techniques”.
